Alina Kano (she/they) is a Japanese-American artist, illustrator, and musician based in Los Angeles, CA.
Working primarily in traditional media, they are deeply committed to preserving the tactile,
human quality of hand-drawn work within an increasingly digital world. Their personal practice
centers on drawing as a way to navigate and give form to their inner landscape, often delving into themes
of intuition, emotional play, memory, ritual, and obsession.
As an illustrator, they frequently collaborate with musicians—designing album covers, posters, and merchandise
that reflect the energy and intimacy of Los Angeles’s vibrant music scene.
They also explore sound through performance, writing and performing dreamy, ethereal songs for their band Zap Star and co-writing
angular, rhythm-driven noise guitar in their collaborative project Less Than Zero.
